Seasonal Stucco Maintenance
Your exterior takes a beating from the elements year-round. Taking a proactive approach every spring and fall ensures the protective skin on your home stays intact.
Safe Washing: Dust and dirt build up on textured surfaces. Gently wash your walls once or twice a year using a low-pressure garden hose. Never use high-pressure power washing on stucco, as it can blast the finish right off the wall or force water deep into micro-cracks.
Irrigation Control: One of the biggest enemies of stucco in Washington County is chronic overspray from sprinklers. Make sure sprinkler heads are directed away from the base of the walls. Constant moisture will cause efflorescence (white, chalky stains) and eventually weaken the underlying material and framing.
